It seems like everyone has a soft spot in their heart when it comes to animals and pets. Whether you have a family dog or just enjoy stroking your neighbor’s cat, there’s no denying the joy that they bring to our lives. Unfortunately, thousands of animals go unwanted in Virginia alone. You can do your part to help find these animals a good home, and make sure they’re cared for until they’re adopted, by attending the Fredericksburg Animal Appreciation and Rescue Festival.
Animal Appreciation and Rescue Festival
The Fredericksburg Animal Appreciation and Rescue Festival debuts this year on Saturday, Nov. 4. It’s the latest evolution of the Fredericksburg Regional Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) annual Walk for the Animals event. Now, you can enjoy an entire festival dedicated to helping animals.
The event lasts from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be held at Riverfront Park in Downtown Fredericksburg (600 Sophia Street).
You can still participate in the walk while enjoying the vendors, food, and kids activities present at the Animal Appreciation and Rescue Festival. Kids will have fun with face painting, balloon animals, crafts, and more. Food vendors include Juan More Taco FXBG and a breakfast cart. It’s a lovely way to spend a Saturday.
This event will benefit the Fredericksburg Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Just by attending, you’re helping provide homes and shelter to displaced and unwanted animals. If you’ve been inspired by your visit to the Rescue Festival, consider browsing some of the animals up for adoption. If you find one that you feel could be a good fit for your home, plan to visit the facility for an adoption interview. Then, if both parties determine it to be a perfect fit, you can proceed with the adoption process and take home your new furry friend.
Adoption fees are affordable and help pay for the necessary shots and medical treatments of the animals. Adult dogs cost $150, puppies $250, adult cats $100, and kittens $125. Plus, if you adopt one kitten, the adoption fee on the second is waived! What better reason is there to give your kitty a companion?
The adoption center visiting hours are Thursday–Tuesday from noon to 6 p.m.
