Concert in Lights Kick-off Festival Happening this Saturday

Concert in Lights Kick-Off

The debate on when to start celebrating Christmas and the holiday season never ceases. There are the strict, no-tree-before-Thanksgiving types, then there are the folks hanging mistletoe the day after Halloween. In Fredericksburg, one brave organization has come to set the record straight.

This Saturday marks the kickoff of the Concert in Lights Festival. From then until Dec. 24, the concert series will ring in the holiday cheer.

Concert in Lights Kick-off

The kick-off festival for the Concert in Lights series will take place this Saturday, Nov. 11. Come to the Green at Spotsylvania Towne Centre from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. to enjoy an evening of celebration. Best of all, this event is completely FREE.

There will be plenty to do for both kids and adults alike. Along with the concert at 6:30 p.m., there will be kettle corn, hot chocolate, face painting, and balloon animals. You can also enjoy a tasty dinner from Bravo, Park Lane Tavern, Splitsville, Malawi’s Pizza, Joe Muggs Café, or Cheeburger Cheeburger.

Perhaps one of the most iconic attractions will be the iceless ice skating rink open from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. The rink is hosted by 93.3 WFLS and is sure to be a hit, so come early if you want to beat the crowds. If you’re wondering what an iceless skating rink consists of, you’ll have to come and see for yourself!

During the festival, guests will enjoy live music from The Stacy Brooks Band from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

All throughout the holiday season, concerts will take place at 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m., and 9:30 p.m.

Making the Most of the Holidays

It’s no surprise when the holiday season takes place. During the same two months every year, we celebrate one of the happiest seasons. Yet, it has a funny way of sneaking up on us. It’s easy to get caught up in a kind of reluctance to “turn on” holiday mode, and before you know it, it’s Christmas morning. This year, get a head start and try out some of these festive activities with family and friends.

  • Go Black Friday Shopping. It gets a bad rap, but it’s not as crazy as it seems on TV. It’s fun to go super early in the morning, be around other festive shoppers, and get a head start on gift giving.
  • Host a Holiday Party. Holiday décor is abundant this time of year. Pick up a gingerbread house, a few party items, and don your tackiest sweater for a delightful night with friends.
  • Buy a New Ornament. It’s easy to use your same boxed ornaments year after year, but try purchasing a unique ornament each year. Then, you’ll have a happy memory each time you see it on your tree.
