Don’t sit around bored this month! Summer is the time to get out and enjoy yourself, so get ready to celebrate Virginia After Hours with country music legend Hank Williams Jr. He will be performing at the Marks and Harrison Amphitheater here in Fredericksburg on Saturday, June 17th and it’s going to be spectacular! You don’t want to miss his incredible live show.

Hank Williams, JR.

Hank Williams, Jr. is the son of country music pioneer and legend, Hank Williams. He started singing before he was 10 years old and knew that he would follow in his father’s famous footsteps. In his autobiography Living Proof, Williams said, “I knew that I would never grow up to be a cowboy or a fireman or the president of the United States. I knew I’d grow up to be a singer.” He was certainly right.

Finding the Right Sound

In the beginning, Williams’ mother Audrey helped to mold her son into a mini version of his late father. After many years of trying to fill his father’s shoes, he decided it was time to branch out and create his own unique sound. Once he finally found his own voice and his own sound, he climbed the charts to reach super stardom. Williams Jr. has 20 gold albums, 6 platinum albums, and 13 chart-topping albums. One of his albums has even sold more than 5 million copies! Today Hank Williams Jr. is still selling out venues all over the nation, and people are still singing his songs. His name may be a reminder of his country legend father, but Hank Jr. didn’t ride his coattails. Instead, Hank Jr. made his own luck and his own way. While fans still remember his father, they have embraced Jr. as a whole new artist with a whole new sound.
